AISPI is your one stop to boutiques stores, upcoming designers and everything unique about fashion. Our Instagram (Follow here) releases a new designer or boutique each day and we strongly believe in using fashion to tell a story about yourself. We recently spoke to Scarlett Dixon, a fashion pioneer, to explain more how she expresses herself with what she wears. Read on and get inspired!
Beautiful blonde hair, fresh colours and a fearless style. That’s how our latest influencer Scarlett can be described. Originating from the UK and with no less than 66K followers, this lady mainly blogs about travel and fashion. Besides her personal account, Scarlett is also one of the best-known blog consultants in the UK! Let’s find out more!
I’m based just outside of London. I love exploring Central London and stumbling across new places and boutiques, especially in Notting Hill. A morning spent on Portobello Road is lovely!
I usually mix up my shopping by browsing both the high street and online stores. I always find boutique stores offer a wonderful ‘destination’ experience and it’s great discovering somewhere new that finds one off/unique piece in your style that no-one else has!
One of my favourite boutiques is in Watford and is called ‘The End’, their style is totally up my street and I always leave with something new as I can’t resist!
I started blogging in 2011, as I was an aspiring journalist and I wanted to have a portfolio of my writing online to showcase to potential future employers. Back then, I had no idea that blogging was a thing. It certainly wasn’t the fully-fledged industry it is now. I loved having a place online to document my passions, practice my writing and be as creative as possible.
I hope to bring a little bit of positivity to someone’s day and strike a balance between fun, creative imagery and relatable writing.
I love London, as it’s so vibrant. There are so many mixes of styles here, that people watching for fashion is fun! Paris is beautiful and everyone looks so chic there. Besides the aforementioned cities, I also love Miami, the beautiful boho styles and relaxed beach wear. It’s definitely one of my favourite places.
I think I am a culmination of my life experiences, both good and bad. In fact, some of the most amazing and incredible things in my life have come as a result of something that started out not-so-great. Everything in life is a learning curve and I try and embrace every experience as an opportunity to learn something new or develop my character. I’m a very sensitive person, but obviously when you put yourself online, you have to accept that people will judge you, so I’ve definitely had to develop a far thicker skin.
I love all things girly, pink, floaty dresses and beautiful bags. I love colour, and I love things that are a little bit unique. I can’t quite pinpoint ‘what’ my style is, but I try to take my style into both the clothes I wear, the make-up I choose and also the content I produce. So, if one of my Instagram images was to be taken out of context, it would still be recognizable as one of mine.
I would say a mix of bloggers: My friend Laura, from Laura’s Little Locket for example has the most gorgeous style. I also love Blake Lively’s style and Rosie Londoner who was one of the first bloggers I ever followed.
Travel is incredibly eye opening. It makes you appreciate what a small part you are in a very large and beautiful world.
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a failure, but at the very beginning of last year, my growth of the business had stagnated. I lost my blogging mojo and I wasn’t happy with the content I was creating. I decided overnight to switch things up, go forth with letting my personality and passions shine and I moved away from the minimalist, Instagram filtered images. Now everything I produce is full of colour and personality for which I had lots of positive feedback. I produced an editing guide with step by step guidelines on how I changed up my style and grew a loyal audience on Instagram.
The most beautiful places and moments are the ones spent not in front of or behind a lens.
It’s wonderful to capture memories to look back upon, but you also have to remember to put the camera down and embrace the incredible place you’re visiting.
Plus, I think there’s a focus on capturing a specific moment/place or angle, but some of the best shots I’ve got from my travels are from spontaneous angles or slightly different places.
I think AISPI is an amazing concept. There are so many beautiful, talented and creative designers that lay undiscovered, it’s fantastic to have a platform to showcase their work!
If you’re interested in starting up your own Instagram platform or blog, there’s no time like the present. I get a lot of questions enquiring about how to start an Instagram page or grow a following. It doesn’t happen overnight but if it’s a passion or dream of yours, there’s room for everyone to shine. Just make sure you’re offering value in your content: what are you offering your audience and why should they follow you. Be consistent with your uploads and ensure everything that makes you YOU shines through, because that’s YOUR niche!
