Rossignol: Skiwear That Makes A Statement

Rossignol was born in a quaint village in the French Alps, founded by carpenter Abel Rossignol in 1907. Its legacy spans over 100 years. The brand has been leading the way in designing luxury ski wear and skis for the modern consumer.

The brand started when Abel handmade his first pair of skis. Now, his name has become synonymous with luxury and expertise in the world of ski gear and skiwear. This French brand’s innovative technology and stylish design set them apart from others. So, their unique emblems carry a legacy of authenticity with them as well.

A Strong Aesthetic

Rossignol has primarily created innovative gear for racing. So, their design signature is tied to their century-old ski heritage. “The two parallel stripes symbolize the skis and the two tracks on the ski slopes are an emblematic reference to our deep universe. The V-shape is a symbol of victory and a close reference to sports,” says their official website.

Values of French chicness and elegance are deeply integrated in the brand’s aesthetics. Each of the designs — whether it is skiwear, ski gear or apparel—boasts of a strong character and design.

The brand is known for collaborating with many designers. However, the French activewear label has managed to retain their elegance in their designs. With this brand, you’ll find clothing that fits impeccably and looks a lot more sophisticated than your normal athleisure. Their androgynous style add a spark of colour and fun silhouettes into their designs. Look out for their clean lines and inspired designs. They can be paired with chunky knits for perfect winter season looks.

The Alluring Collaborations

Rossignol has been known to collaborate with names such as  Tommy Hilfiger, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac as well as Balmain.

Rossignol X Tommy Hilfiger

In 2017, Tommy Hilfiger indulged his love for snow sports. He created a capsule collection of four looks with Rossignol. It featured the designer’s trademark red, white and blue colour palette along with performance features that made them appropriate to wear on the slopes. “Skiing and winter sports have been a passion of mine since I was young,” Hilfiger said. “I’ve wanted to develop this capsule collection for a long time, and Rossignol was the ultimate partner to bring the concept to life in a really iconic way. With our shared values on quality, perfect fit and merging fashion with technical function, we’ve designed a signature red, white and blue collection that works from the ski slopes to the international metropolis.”

Rossignol X Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

Jean Charles de Castelbajac, the legendary designer, teamed up with Rossignol. They created a winter capsule collection that gave off the most magical vacation vibes. Drawing inspiration from the Alpine world, the collection was the perfect blend of originality and technology. So, all wrapped up in French fashion aesthetics and JCC’s well-known flamboyance. It included a soft-shell jacket and a printed pullover. Its unique prints and structured pieces add a touch of pop with their glossy tones.

Rossignol X Balmain

In 2021, luxury brand Balmain collaborated with Rossignol. Their limited-edition collection offered a mix of equipment and clothing designs for both on and off the pistes. The collection featured après-ski boots, scarves, coats and even ski poles. Also, each of the products comes with the iconic Balmain Labyrinth print. The clothing pieces are graphic and eye-catching, due to the brand’s pattern. Pierre Balmain designed it five decades ago.
