Jiri Kalfar: Fashion Seen As A Performance
Based in Prague, Jiri Kalfar is a unique brand that sees fashion as a performance, which explores deep feelings and emotions.
Its founder originally trained to be a ballet dancer and was completely dedicated to dancing, performing, theatre.
At the age of 21, he has already worked with the best choreographs.
Furthermore, instead of taking notes about the subjects in high school, he has been drawing and collecting ideas, yet never thought about being a fashion designer.
“I don’t have a muse. In my designs I tell a story that I see and all of them have different characters.”
Skipping casual and minimalistic, Jiri`s aesthetic is flamboyant, teatrical and vibrant. Silouettes flow freely, giving a sense of movement. He does not only design clothes but also builds characters and storylines.

The idea to launch a brand came to him spontanously, without having studied fashion design before. So, he took lessons, used his knowledges of the body, aquired through dancing, trusted his intuition and creativity.
Now he is one of the most ground-breaking designers of the Cheh Republic, who creates in Prague, a city he is in love with. His collections, some of which have been showcased at London Fashion Week and New York, are featured in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Harper`s Bazaar, L`Officiel, Forbes, Grazia and Financial Times. Also, he won Best Menswear Designer in Kiev two years in a row.
