Like every season, we await the fashion weeks to see what designers have bet on for the season. Will they recommend something bold, unexpected and new?
Just as is the case every year, we paid close attention to the SS22 trends witnessed in the collections. We have gathered three of the biggest trends we loved to follow. And we are definitely planning on making it a big part of our wardrobes–including the ultra micro mini.
Micro Mini Skirts
Arguably the most notable trend that we witnessed this season is the extremely short length in skirts–lovingly known as the micro-mini. Initially linked with the Miu Miu campaign and catwalk, who turned into the first big brand to integrate it in its collection, the micro-mini has started appearing more and more being embraced by fashionistas and brands as a bold, sexy and interesting suggestion. Surely the most effective clothing piece if you’re too warm during the summer.
Explore the trend with Milan-based womenswear brand Celeste Pisenti. Their collection of short, summer dresses will revamp your entire look! If you’re looking for something even more risqué–turn your attention to Stefania Vaidani’s SS22 collection. Short skirts have never been cuter!
Bold Colours
Big, bright and bold colours have our vote of confidence. Everyone is welcoming them back into their wardrobes, as the aftermath of those greys and browns we had too much of during the pandemic. Colours like bright orange, lime green, peppy fuchsia and lemon yellow are here to stay. And we love it!
Celia B
Celia B is our immediate go-to designer for dressing in colours. A proponent of bright and vivid hues since the beginning of her brand, rainbow dressing is part of her identity.
For her SS22 collection, she has again filled her world with happy shades as only she knows.
L' Alingi
If you’re still hesitant about dressing in full colour and investing in a vivid orange dress, you can still add colour to your outfit through accessories. And our favourite will always be bags.
L’ Alingi London makes the most eye-catching bags designed with a princess aura and in colours you will love. A white summer dress will be perfectly paired with a statement bag.
Chunky Platform Heels
Do you remember in 2000s when platform heels were everywhere? And then they were adopted by Lady Gaga, which made her look a lot taller? You knew platform heels will come, go and return, because these chunky heels are loved by style experts everywhere.
With the obvious attribute being adding height and flattering the female figure, the shoes are also eye-catching due to their volume– surely more comfortable and grounding than stilettos! Now designers play with them in colours, shapes and patterns. With the trend of dressing up having become bigger after two very isolating years, these are the shoes to complement an impressive out-of-home outfit.
Kat Maconie
Whether you’re a long time lover of platform heels or want to try the trend now, AiSPI-beloved Kat Maconie will help you make quite a case.
Her maximalist designs love volume, colour, prints and add-ons creating pairs of shoes that speak for themselves.
