Crafting

Pé De Chumbo truly believes that the materials they use are the heart and soul of the pieces they create. The designs focus on highlighting the materials more than anything. All the manufacturing of woven and knitted fabrics is done through a specialized handmade process. With a heavy emphasis on research, the brand has created each of its designs from scratch, starting right from a simple drawing until these unique and eye-catching pieces reach the stores.

The team at Pé De Chumbo is always on the lookout for crafting and utilizing new techniques. They are experts at hand-producing textured filigree, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Geometry plays an important role in every single design at this label. Designs are highly structured, and no two designs are ever the same. With every season, a new crafting technique,  colour palette, or a mix of new fabrics is explored. Pé De Chumbo had us all falling into the rabbit hole of coiled crochets, diverse shag textures, and sparkling fringes.

Layering At Its Finest

Pieces from Pé De Chumbo are not extravagant; instead, they opt for a more silent approach to luxury. The outfit as a whole narrates a beautiful story rather than having too many elements disrupting the flow. The brand has a deeper reasoning for this outlook; they prefer simplicity in design but intricacy in layering. They aim to highlight the techniques they use in their pieces.

The Roots Of Pé De Chumbo:

Pé De Chumbo was born in Guimarães, near Porto, Portugal. Founder, Alexandra Oliveira, is the creative driving force behind the brand. She has invested herself in every single part of the brand, right from finding the raw materials up until working on the finished garments.

Her signature techniques lie in the layering and working with different fabric combinations that haven't been explored before, and these techniques are the main focal points of the brand. The brand was founded in 1995, but Alexandra spent time in between studying fashion designing and has participated in multiple Portuguese and international textile art exhibits.
