Now that London and Milan fashion weeks are over, it’s safe to say we saw some recurring trends that are happening now in the fashion scene in Europe. We took a closer look to analyze some trends and found out what exactly will be trending in the upcoming fall of 2024.
Spliced Dimensions & Textured Fabrics
Minimalist elegance and simplicity have always been timeless in high fashion and couture. However, trends are now taking a bold new turn with a play on mixed textures and spliced silhouettes aiming for more extravagant and exaggerated looks. Designers are daringly layering fabrics and mixing materials and prints while carefully plating and structuring fabrics to achieve multidimensional garments that combine 2D and 3D elements. Beyond fabric combinations, designers are also experimenting with patterns. Last year it was leopard print, the year before that it was camouflage, now it’s all about floral. This year, we saw multiple nature-inspired fabrics featuring floral prints and natural elements making the clothes grounded yet expressive.

Blaring and Dramatic Fashion
Impracticality is no longer a consideration when shopping for a winter wardrobe, as this upcoming trend embraces a new movement towards louder and more dramatic effect in clothing and accessories. Designers are welcoming exaggerated silhouettes, oversized shapes and plush textures, creating statement looks that ensure the clothes to stand out. More specifically, we noticed a trend in exaggerated necklines and dramatic waistlines. Detailed and elevated collars are about to dominate the fashion scene as they bring personality and dramatic flair to the clothing. The element of drama continued on the runway with cinched waistlines and multi-belted looks. By making the waist as a focal point in the garments, designers are adding structure and intrigue to their designs. This trend in expressive fashion extends to the accessories department as well. Designers were bringing a sense of playfulness and movement with fringed details, which is definitely set to be a major trend in the upcoming fall accessories-whether in bags, shoes or jewelry.
Glamour & Glitter
As the festive season approaches, we saw some dazzling elements; glitter and tinsel made frequent appearances on the runway. These shimmering details bring a playful contrast to fall fashion, adding a festive and playful spirit to this year’s winter looks. When it comes to this fall’s “it-color,” burgundy is making a comeback. Wine-colored items are poised to be on trend, offering a sophisticated and chic tone to the season’s fashion.
Fall 2024 looks to be a season when fashion makes big advances and embraces expression and originality. The combination of dramatic silhouettes, textured textiles, and spliced dimensions creates eye-catching and statement designs. Fashionistas can expect a fall that is characterized by drama and exaggeration, with no limits to the ways in which one can express oneself via style.
