Every year, Pantone, the leading colour expert institute announces its colour of the year. The selection of the colour is based on an analysis of various trends in industries that shape society such as technology, fashion, design, travel, socio-economic patterns, art and more.
Despite the great changes and challenges the world has faced during the last years, Pantone has held strong in its mission to find a colour that represents the upcoming year since 1999. This year was no different as Pantone declared Very Peri as the colour of 2022.
Very Peri: A step further
For the first time since the Color of the Year annual presentation commenced, Pantone has created its own colour for 2022, adopting and reflecting the trend of innovation, creativity and inventiveness that has flourished.
Based on the electric blue, with violet-red undertones is Very Peri. It’s an ode to imagination, dreams, spirit and joy. Four colour palettes have been proposed by Pantone for optimal encompassment of Very Peri.
For many of us, the colour resembles the lilac tones, yet Pantone highlights its blue foundation. A wider family with blues and violet, the shade exudes a feeling of calmness and dreamy vision. The colour and its various shades have been spotted in fashion items for some time now, reflecting a popular embrace of more vivid and expressive colours rather than merely neutral and muted ones.
Fashion is constantly influenced by external and social trends, and Pantone’s colour of the year is always a reflection of these. From collections of major brands like Versace and Bottega Veneta, to some AiSPi favourites, the colour is predicted to be seen quite a lot.
