From conceptualisation, to curation, and even location: everything about A-GALERII is distinctively avant-garde. The building where the gallery and shop is found belongs to the Estonian Artists’ Union. This space was developed with ideas and concepts from artists. It is constantly updated and re-conceptualised thanks to the fresh faces and different personalities that are constantly joining A-GALERII’s community.
The presence of varying international characters always brings different perspectives that are also very much appreciated in developing the evolving culture of A-GALERII.
A-GALERII is a very special place and overall niche concept. It serves as an international exhibition and shopping space that acts as a contact point for artists, wearers, and all types of eccentric individuals. It is a representative store and supporter of the dialogue between creatives and artisanal jewellery enthusiasts. The craftsmanship and creativity levels of Estonian jewellery creators are other major points that set A-GALERII apart.
The History of A-GALERII
A-GALERII was founded in 1994 by jewellery artists who have continued to manage it. Its creation came to be thanks to the bold and entrepreneurial motivation of 48 fascinating artists.
Although the gallery opened in Tallinn Old Town, in 2005 it moved to the corner of Hobusepea and Pika Street.
The building where the gallery is found today has over 100 years of Estonian goldsmith, artist, and jewellery history. It hosts workspaces in the upper floors, where many of the current artists are creating day-to-day. Being so present amongst creatives is ideal, as it offers the unique chance to customise and create exclusive designs which can be personally managed and critiqued by artists. After all, it’s a space where art meets creativity meets modernity.
The store is operated by four gallerists who handle day to day operations. Overall though, the gallery continues to be run by jewellery artists.
