Based in the city of Tallinn in Estonia, Karin Rask is well-known around this Northern Europe country. This womenswear brand creates sustainable clothing that’s functional, stylish and exceptionally well-made.
As the brand believes and promotes slow fashion, it uses hand-picked deadstock fabrics and natural organic materials to create their collections. They are then manufactured locally using the expertise of craftspeople. They produce collections in small quantities or as single unique pieces.
By combining the designer’s keen eye for detail, local craftsmanship and high-quality sewing, Karin Rask fully dedicates herself to sustainability. It is an example for a brand who makes a stand, driving fashion in a greener, ecological way.
Attitude Meets Style
This Estonia-based brand’s aesthetics are clean, minimalist and practical. Tailored trousers, dresses that fit like a glove and even fluid kimonos, the silhouettes of Karin Rask are designed to be admired. Elegant and classy, they are perfect for those who love the Scandinavian aesthetic.
Apart from formal silhouettes, the brand also has a spectacular curation of minimalist occasion wear with clean lines and fluid drapes.
The brand’s colour palette consists mostly of pastels and metallic hues like bronze, silver and golden with a few vivid tones added in.
An Eco-Friendly Approach
The brand is committed to building a circular economy, therefore you’ll find leftover materials that are collected from textile factories being used to create some glamorous designs. Moreover, they also use organic and natural materials that are good for the planet like viscose, silk, wool, and cotton.
Furthermore, the brand limits their production numbers and also minimises waste every step of their manufacturing process.
The History of Karin Rask
Karin Rask is not only a fashion designer but also a freelance actress and a mother of three children. She graduated Higher Theater School (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in Tallinn. She started doing clothes for her daughter and people started asking her about them.
Her first clothing brand was born back in 2013, with the name “Kalamaja Printsess”. Here she started by creating children’s clothing. In 2020 the brand was renamed to “Karin Rask” with a new focus–to design contemporary womenswear that is sustainable and stylish.
