Maja Brix’s designs can be considered raw, modern, and elegant while also unveiling the Scandinavian simplicity. The designer gathers inspiration from subjects such as gender, social equality, and tradition and brings these out in form of high-quality clothing. Maja Brix values functionality in her designs; therefore, she is not afraid to leave unnecessary details out when they don’t contribute to the practicality of the clothing. Besides functionality, one of Maja Brix’s signature features in her designs is movement. Her clothing features all natural materials, and her designs overlook the movement and flow of the human body.

As one of the brand’s core values is ambitious sustainability, Maja Brix has built a reputation on her sustainable approach to fashion. The designer uses organic and recycled materials that are gathered from deadstock or already existing fabrics. However, the designer’s sustainable efforts don’t end there. Her collections are fully made to order, avoiding overproduction and they are constructed by zero-waste pattern cutting methods.

Since the beginning of Maja Brix’s fashion career, she has seen the environmental issues in the fashion industry, and she knew she wanted to create something different, something out of the ordinary. Unlike many other fashion brands, Maja Brix’s series of styles are non-seasonal, emphasizing the sustainability of the brand. The designer didn’t want to be chained to the cycle of creating four seasonal collections a year, so she built her brand on sustainable designs, making the garments wearable in every season.
The Story of Maja Brix
Maja Brix has an extensive background in fashion design, from studying at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen to being the head of Henrik Vibskov Femme, another Danish fashion label. It was after leaving that position that Maja Brix started her own label in 2016. Ever since then, Maja Brix has been gaining recognition with her innovative designs by being nominated and winning awards for her projects and collaborations, such as the “Best Wearable Art” award.
Maja Brix is a state-of-the-art designer who challenges the norms in the fashion industry and opposes the unsustainable practices of fast fashion. Today she continues to create her beautiful, long-lasting, and versatile clothing at her atelier in Copenhagen while contributing to the sustainable fashion movement in Denmark.
